As a member of the birth support team, I draw upon my knowledge, skills and resources as a DONA certified doula. I provide physical and emotional support to laboring parents and help guide them and their birth partner in the entire process of pregnancy, labor, birth, and baby.
I am there to help my clients and their family in their preparations for birth. I give information and resources to help them make all the decisions they will be making in the weeks and months leading up to birth. Together we discuss each birthing person's wishes and hopes for their ideal birth plan. We practice relaxation techniques, labor positions and comfort measures. We discuss together what my role will be in the birth process. I am available by phone, text or email for questions and support through out the entire pregnancy. We will meet several times to establish a rhythm with each other and for everyone to feel comfortable with me as their doula.
When labor begins, I will be with the birthing person 100%, either by phone or together in the home or place of birth. I work with the birth partner and help them be the best birth partner they can be. I make recommendations for comfort measures, help with positions, remind everyone to drink and eat, give the birth partner breaks when needed, and be a continuous physical and emotional support. When faced with decisions to be made, I help each family make informed decision they feel confident about and remind them of their wishes for their birth plan. Whether they are planning a natural or medicated birth; I am there to support each family in their decisions and ensure they have a positive and empowering experience.
After the baby(s) is born, I help with family bonding, initiate breastfeeding or chestfeeding or other feeding methods and help settle the new family in to cuddle with their new baby.
As a doula, I am committed to each parent and THEIR ideal birth. My goal is for every new parent to feel they have been supported and guided the best possible way. Regardless of the path each labor goes, my only desire for each parent is to feel satisfied with the decisions they and their family made and to feel empowered in their new role as a new parent (or new parent of more children).
